I was suprised to discover that I had something in common with Hillary Clinton - but here it is! Too Small To Fail is an American initiative hot off the press - she makes a strong case that our future success as a people depends upon nurturing our children especially in those first few years of life. Its features Dr Shonkoff from Harvard- my alltime hero:) Using research on child brain development he makes the point that warm and responsive parenting is vital to raise a healthy, robust child. Finally, a campaign that places merit on the many unseen acts of kindness it takes to be a parent. Bring it on! Sharon.

I had a letter to the editor published in the West today. It is an emotive, controversial and complicated issue. Worthy of robust debate.
I've attached the original article and my letter in response. "This debate should focus on what is best for our children..." What do you think? Dawson. |
